Mr. Turner, founder of Gemcorp, is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America and holds advanced certifications from the American Gem Society and the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. With over 40 years in the jewelry industry—as a manager, buyer, bench jeweler, and appraiser—he brings deep expertise to every valuation.
His ongoing education, including courses from leading appraisal organizations, ensures he stays current with best practices. Mr. Turner’s hands-on background in jewelry construction and repair allows him to assess not just the value, but the overall condition and quality of your pieces—often preventing issues before they arise.

What is a Jewelry Appraisal
An appraisal is a tool to accomplish some purpose, such as to obtain insurance or distribute property among heirs. To provide you the very best service and advice, your appraiser needs to know the function and purpose for which the document will be used. Your appraiser is your advocate. Bring any supporting documentation with you to your appointment.
How does it work?
Professional appraiser, Steve Turner, comes to Athens about every 3 months.
To secure your spot at our appraisal clinic, we require a $50 deposit. Most clients drop off their items a day or two before their scheduled clinic date, but you’re welcome to book an appointment to sit with your pieces during the appraisal. If you’d like to be present, we ask that you arrive at least one hour early so we can properly clean your items before the evaluation begins.
What is the cost?
Professional appraisals with Steve Turner start at just $135, with each additional item priced at $95. For certain pieces—like diamonds over 1 carat that require detailed mapping, or unique items that need extra research—pricing may be higher and will be quoted based on the specifics of your piece.
